No, periodontists are not covered by Medicare. You will be responsible for the full cost of treatment unless you have PHI that includes periodontist treatments.
When should I see a Periodontist?

While general dentists, oral surgeons and Maxillofacial surgeons perform standard surgical extractions, surrounding bone and gum may at times need to be compromised to deliver the teeth/ root fragments. Periodontists use special tools and skillset to remove teeth/ root fragments by minimizing the deformation of adjacent bone and gum, preserving its morphological integrity for the future potential plans of implants or other prostheses. Periodontists are like the plastic surgeons in dentistry, we keep the end goal of aesthetic in mind throughout the treatment.
Can periodontists do fillings?
Periodontists typically do not offer fillings as a routine service. However, it is worth discussing it with them, as some will perform them if needed.
